Pantip Plaza

If you visit Bangkok and you want to buy computers or any other electronic gadget than Pantip Plaza is a must see. It's a warehouse full of shops selling really every computer and gadget you can imagine. It also serves as an outlet for illegal copies of movies and video games although the Thai government tries to shut this operation down. In the past you could buy illegal software immediately, now it's ten minutes waiting.

I did not went there to buy software, instead I bought a new ip webcam. Tomorrow I will try to install it. It's not that easy because these ip camera's have to deal with both your network and external requests. The idea is that visitors can access this webcam and control it remotely. So if it will work you can control the angle of the camera. I don't know where we will put it but it will be funny to see that camera moving in all directions. That way we know somebody is watching us. (posted by Jitze, 22/01/11)

Flora and fauna

Because we make quite some pictures of animals, insects and flowers I just made a new page about Thai flora and fauna. I will start updating on a regular basis. It will give you a good impression of the beautiful things you see in Thailand. (posted by Jitze, 16/01/11)

What's new?

The first new page, click here for our city info about Chumphon.

A nice (not) restaurant review, click here to read how you should not run a restaurant.

And the last page for today, click here to read more about Krabi. It's one of our most favorite destinations in Thailand.

Crabs in Krabi

There are several things which I have to create on our website. For sure something about insects, reptiles and animals in Thailand because we are collecting plenty of pictures. Every time Yde or Vibeke discovers something we take pictures. As a starter you get this youtube video about Crabs in Krabi.

Fishing part II

So yesterday we went out to the open sea. Trying to catch squid using a so called 'long tail' boat. Those boats are well known in this area but are not the biggest boats in the world. Our boatmen was the same one we hired when fishing in the mangrove waters. He did everything to make Yde a happy boy, he searched everywhere until we found a place with a school of squid.

Once you locate squid the fishing is easy with the right tools. In this case a bright orange fake bate with plenty of 45 degree hooks on the end will do the trick. Squid cannot resist trying to grab it with their tentacle. We catched plenty of squid in only a short time. There was one thing which happened which wasn't much fun, rain at the end of the day. We had to shelter with the longtail behind some Islands until most passed. But the waves were quite high on the open part of the sea. In short, it was a bumpy ride and Vibeke did not enjoy it. Anyhow, we returned safely and we have some nice pictures to share really soon now. (posted by Jitze, 06/01/11)

Fishing

Today Yde and I went fishing in the mangrove forest waters surrounding Krabi. The boatmen, Yde and I were lucky to catch fish. A big red snaper was the highlight of the catch. Tomorrow we will go snorkeling and try some squid fishing on the Andaman sea if the weather stays good. As mentioned in the previous posting, pictures will follow but I can already tell you that they are great. (posted by Jitze, 04/01/11)

Happy New Year!!

We wish every reader of our weblog a very happy new year. Enjoy 2011! We are enjoying our Holiday in Krabi, Thailand. Yesterday evening we counted the hours away together with one of my colleagues and his family. They came over from Jordan for their Holiday in Thailand. Good company, good food, good cigars and a perfect show on the beach with fireworks and hot air balloons lighting the sky. As soon as we are back in Bangkok I will post some youtube movies and pictures. For now we will continue our beach, swimming and snorkeling adventures.

Again, happy new year and keep reading our weblog. (posted by Jitze, 01/01/11)
